About Sheila |
|
Hello. As you can see by the name
of this page and my copyright statement at the bottom of the pages here at my
website, my name is Sheila. I'm not a police officer nor do I work within the
law enforcement community. There have been people within that community who've
told me I should become a police officer; however, even with my deep interest
in the crime solving process and protecting people from crime, I've never
really felt that's where I belong. Why not? I've been called to the ministry
and feel it's my job to teach people a better way to live through my words and
actions as a Christian and as a pastor. Sure, it's possible to do that as a
police officer and there are many of them out there doing that every day. I
appreciate the job done by those who wear or carry a badge.
I first became interested in the various aspects
of law enforcement when I was trying to counsel people who found themselves in
tough situations. Some pastors view it as leaving God out of the equation to
refer people to resources outside of the church to resolve conflicts and other
problems. They say things such as "All they need is God and his laws".
Sometimes teaching people how to live by God's standards is enough, but when
people have been taught otherwise or refuse that counsel, sometimes other
routes are needed.
Because of my interest in the law and law
enforcement as a means of resolving the problems faced by people today, I dug
deeper into the crime solving process. I wouldn't find a need to refer people
to the police or other help agencies if I didn't know how they did their jobs
or what services they could provide. The deeper I dug, the more I realized
just how close law enforcement relates to the job I do as a pastor. The people
who wear or carry a badge (with a few exceptions) and I are all interested in
protecting people and making this world a better and safer place in which to
live.
So those are the basics about me. To learn more
about how I've combined my interest in law enforcement with my ministry, you
can read the page at this section of my site about my novels which is linked
below. The link to the page titled "Website information" will open the page
telling you about the information presented here at this site.
