Statistics 2007

The following statistics were compiled from the various charts presented by the U.S. Department of Justice. These are only a few of the statistics covering homicides nationwide. The reason some of the numbers don't add up to the nationwide total is because not all of the information is available for each case. It must also be remembered that some deaths are ruled as being from other causes and not all homicides are reported.
According to the Department of Justice, there were 14,831 murders reported in the United States. California accounted for the most with 2,249 cases. New Hampshire had the lowest number at 12.
