The  Search  for  Truth  -  Setting

It's a big city, the kind of place where people go to either make a lot of friends and business contacts or get lost in the sea of faces. No matter how a person talks or dresses, what color their skin may be, or the lifestyle they choose to lead, there are plenty of opportunities to blend in and disappear. As with any other large city, crime seems to be a normal part of life. Someone can commit a crime then blend back into the crowd around them.
The city can be a beautiful place, at least for those who like the city life. The storefronts show off the glitz and glamour, the many parks offer a glimpse of nature, and the skyline is a hodge-podge of architectural designs. There's something for everyone - live performances, sports, holiday extravaganzas, and many other events. But it's not all good. As a person makes their way toward the outer edges, the neat and orderly gives way to the old and forgotten. Condemned housing and abandoned buildings are interspersed with the small communities which hang on to the few manufacturing businesses which have survived the past economic collapses.

This is a summary of the setting in which Detective Jake: Search for Truth takes place. There are some people who'd prefer that I pinpoint the city in which the story unfolds. Doing so would allow them to either applaud the fictional hero in their city or make them feel comfortable with their thoughts that at least "those things don't happen where I live". By not naming the city, readers can still do the same. It's up to each reader to decide where Detective Stalb is working.
