Sheila Rae Myers is an author who has mastered the art of storytelling. In
her book, "Detective Jake: The Search for Truth," I found that as the story
developed, and characters with it, I became more and more drawn into this
highly interesting and compelling story. Sheila expertly lays out the story
in an extremely precise manner This kept me interested enough to keep
turning the pages, but also kept me in anticipation, because of her skill at
keeping clues just out of the readers reach. Sheila is supremely adept at
creating emotional highs and lows throughout her story. Shiela's character
development starts with the main character, Detective Jake Stalb, and using
his conversations with the other characters so well, I felt like I actually
knew him; and most notable, cared about his well-being, and spiritual
health. In fact, I hadn't read far into the book before I realized that I
cared quite a bit for most of the characters (particularly Jake's wife,
Clarissa, and his brother-in-law). Sheila uses her character's dialog
remarkably well. It has been my experience from being such an avid reader
for so long, that creating effective and realistic conversations is one of
the most difficult things for an author to master, and Sheila is truly a
master. The end of the story has a twist that surprised and delighted me.
The book left me with a lasting, warm feeling; which not all books will do.
I strongly recommend, "Detective Jake: The Search for
Truth," to everyone. I am certainly interested in reading other books from
Sheila Rae Myers. - Michael Barnett, Author of Eden Fading
