Progress 2007-2009 |
|
This
is one of the few sections of my site without an index. There's really no need
to write a description for each page because they're all about the progress of
my writing for the years in the page title. All of the pages are linked on the
bottom of each page.

The first book
in my series, grew from an idea for a short story into an outline for a full
length novel. After spending the month of August developing a list of
characters, writing short back-stories, and establishing the format for the
novel, the actual writing began in September. As I wrote, I'd have friends
read various sections and give their feedback. The positive comments
encouraged me and kept me writing. Approximately half way through writing
the manuscript, Detective Jake : The Search for Truth became the
official title. By December, I was well on my way to having the completed
sections of the manuscript proofread and reworked for clarification.

January and February were spent conducting research on both the publishing
process and information needed for two sub-plots. By the end of March,
two-thirds of the manuscript had been written. Finally, at the end of
November, the manuscript for my first full-length novel was written,
proofread, and formatted for submission to a literary agent. The search
began for an agent to represent me and my novel. Because I do plan to have a
series of novels, I began developing the idea for the second novel. Because
agents and publishers want the author to put some effort into promoting
their books, I created this website.

I
began writing my second novel, Detective Jake : Ripped and by the end
of January, the first five chapters were complete. Some time was then taken
to create a MySpace page about me and my books. Between writing sessions for
the second manuscript, I continued to search for an agent and send out query
letters for the first novel. In March, I sent sample chapters of The
Search for Truth to the Writer's Edge for evaluation. Only a week later,
I got a response and, although it contained some negative comments, I looked
at the positive ones and I kept on searching for an agent. July was good and
bad; an agent was very interested in my manuscript, but had to pass because
he didn't have an opening for a new client and I completed the manuscript
for Ripped. In October, I began writing the third novel.
